Lena was born in Fayetteville, AR to Jesse and Cynthia Cook, the youngest of seven siblings. When she was ten, she moved to Coachella, CA where she graduated from Coachella High School. In 1950 she moved to Turlock where, on the very first day, she met a handsome young butcher named Rae Kregness. They would be married fifty years before his passing in 2000. For many years, Lena worked alongside Rae in his meat market.
Lena was an accomplished seamstress and always had an afghan on her lap that she was working on. She also enjoyed working in her yard, that is, until she spotted a worm. Lena also loved to bake, especially cakes, and our waistlines can attest to that!
She is survived by her two children, Linda (Tom) Silva and Michael (Alice) Kregness, three grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.
As per her request, no services will be held.
