I am Lisa Michael.
Cancer has not beaten me.
Cancer has given me an incredible opportunity.
The opportunity to be an angel of God.
Please let my passion for life be a beacon in everyone that I have touched.
I have now taken flight as an angel to look after and protect!
Lisa Monique Michael, after a lengthy battle with cancer, was called home to the Lord surrounded by those who loved and were inspired by her spirit, her warmth and her joy.
Even through her illness, Lisa remained a giving, positive spirit adored by those who were fortunate enough to know her. When Lisa arrived at parties - often late in the evening and always perfectly attired - her greatest gift was her presence and her welcoming smile.
Born in Chicago, Lisa was raised in Turlock and was a graduate of Turlock High School.
She spent 25 years in the insurance agency, serving as President of the Tom Michael Insurance Agency since 1996.
Lisa was a respected member of her industry, serving in such important capacities as a member of the Young Agents Committee for the Independent Insurance Agents and Brokers of California; a member of the prestigious Government Affairs Committee for the Independent Insurance Agents of America and numerous elected positions including President of the Stanislaus Insurance Association.
Lisa was an active and proud member of the Modesto Rotary Club, Ovation/The Central West Ballet, The Modesto Chamber of Commerce, Leadership Modesto, President of Stanislaus Rotaract and President of the Central Valley Professional Exchange.
In 1998 Lisa was recognized with the Harlan Miller Award for outstanding political involvement, and in 2000 received the Ronald Lee Wilson Award as the Most Outstanding Young Professional.
Lisa is survived by her loving partner Tim Hansen, mother Joan Michael (Giacomelli) and stepfather Tom Giacomelli and her son Matthew Morgan. She is also survived by numerous loving aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
Lisa is preceded in death by father Thomas Michael, grandparents E.O. and Doris Sappington, John G. Malloy and June Hansen.
Services will be held on Saturday, May 4 at 3p.m. at First United Methodist Church of Turlock, 1660 Arbor Way in Turlock. A celebration of Lisa's life will follow at the Larsa Banquet Hall, 2107 East Monte Vista in Denair.
In lieu of flowers, Lisa's family has requested that donations be made in her memory to the Community Hospice Foundation or First United Methodist Church of Turlock.

Dear Joan and Family
I started my insurance job as a marketer and was asked to join the Stanislaus Insurance Agents. I was in my fifties and did not know what I was doing. This beautiful young girl took me under her wing and told me about everything I needed to know. She was bright, brilliant, kind, and knew all about insurance. I always think of her and what she would do if I questioned anything. What a wonderful person. I am honored and blessed to have known her.

Lisa was an angel among us. Now she's in heaven as the true angel she always has been. My prayers go out to her family and Tim. I was so blessed to have know her and to grow up with her. The great memories and happiness we shared we'll never be forgotten. Lisa rest in peace and know you'll always be in my heart!

I had the privilege of knowing Lisa in my younger days. She knew how to have a good time, and the good time was usually where Lisa was, because of her charismatic personality. Although I have not seen Lisa in a long time, I do often think of her and will continue to have those moments where she brings a smile to my face, as I'm sure she will do for many others.

I remember when we became friends at 9 years old our parents were good friends....the best memory ever was when we in lisas room and she told me "I'm gonna be a hair stylist let me do your hair...she took the sissors and cut my hair which was down to my waist and cut it to the middle of my back...oh my gosh our parents freeked out...we were so young and just had a great time together. you rest in peace my friend, tell your daddy and my daddy hi for me. may God Bless you Joan may you have peace.

It was in May of 2000 during a ride on the Sierra Railroad dinner train.. You were sat at our table.. I on my blackberry and you on yours.. Our husbands said to each other.. I am glad our Wife's can be so attentive.. Laugh laugh.. We laid into them about business and then just laughed.. We had the best night that night.. We both put our phones away and just enjoyed life.. I knew at that very moment that you were different . To meet someone that way yet have the time of our lives like we had known each other for a lifetime.. Our paths crossed many times over the passed 13 years and I always admired and looked up to your beauty, Your spirit and the genuineness that you possessed . God took one of the best when he took you.. Knowing you are a Angel above does give some comfort.. God Bless your Beautiful heart and soul <3

Hello,
for Joan and to all that had the privilege of knowing Lisa, I offer my sincerest and most heart felt condolences for the loss you are enduring. Lisa was a genuinely good,honest, kind, and loving person to everyone.
Lisa was also a very Dear and close friend to me, as well as to my family for the past 20+ years. She was full of positive energy and lived her life to the fullest of her ability and beyond at times. Doing what she could when she could. Selflessly making the time for everyone, she always let you know that you were important to her. She never complained about anything even when she had reason to. She never judged or looked down upon anyone. She was so sweet. Taking time for all her friends children and even for animals tame or wild.
We will always remember her unforgettably heartwarming smile, her sincere and generous hugs, and the gracious kindness and joy she brought to us all. By Gods good graces we pray we will see her again.
Although I cannot hold back my selfish tears. I know Lisa would not want us to cry for her. She would rather, for us to carry on with our lives honorably, with love and respect, for one another as well as for ourselves, and when life gives you the opportunity to take that trip, to dance that dance, cross that bridge, climb that hill, take that walk, or to ride that ride, I think she would say " why not"
That's just the way she was. If she could do it, she would.
Of course you might of had to wait a little bit. You know... wardrobe, hair, make up, etc.
Anyhow I pray we all get through this.
I look forward to seeing you all. Until then,be strong!

It just doesn't seem real, how does the world go on without a light such as Lisa?? She was the best friend I have ever had! No one lived life like she did! No one ever will. I am blessed to have known her and loved her, even more so that she loved me. Joan and Tim I am so sorry for your loss, for the worlds loss. You are in my prayers now and always.
