Paul Geisler Obituary

Paul Andrew Geisler
May 1926 ~ June 2014
Paul was born May 1st, 1926 in Long Beach, CA and went to heaven the morning of June 3, 2014. As a boy Paul sang with the St. Luke's Choir and was featured in two Hollywood feature films "The Prince and the Pauper", and "Boys Town" starring Deanna Durbin and Mickey Rooney.
Paul graduated from Polytechnic High School in Long Beach and proudly joined the U.S. Navy and served on the submarine USS Atule as a diesel mechanic.  Paul served his country bravely during WWII.
In 1955, Paul met Betty and her 3 girls, Kathy, Lorrain, and Paula. They soon married and Paul adopted the girls. Over the next few years, Betty gave birth to daughters Jennifer, the twins Delia and Danna, and then sister Martha was added to the brood. Paul and Betty raised 7 daughters!
In 1960 Paul's family of 10 made the move to Sonora where they opened the Fosters Freeze, which was a local landmark for many years. With a ready-made crew, the Frosty was a big success. He was also partners in the U-Save liquor store next door. Paul built a beautiful home for his big family in Jamestown. He brought Public water to the Pulpit Rock area by starting the "Tuolumne County Water Districts" #'s 1 and 2. He and Betty spent a lot of time horseback riding in the Sierras. They also took up square dancing with the "Twain Harte Twirlers".
Paul then became a pilot and was lovingly referred to as "Sky King" by his family and friends. He became an avid golfer and piloted several trips to Baja California fishing with buddies. In 1975, at age 49, Paul sold the businesses and retired.
After retirement, they raised Beefalo in Oklahoma, and became "beach bums" in San Diego, finally settling back in Tuolumne Co. where he built another home in Soulsbyville,  CA.
Paul's love of singing was renewed when he joined a barbershop choir and quartet. He performed in several musicals at the Fallon House in Sonora.
Paul then dedicated himself to building homes for "Habitat for Humanity". He worked on homes across the country and became the construction supervisor for many homes in Stanislaus Co. He and Betty lived in a 5th Wheel on the jobsites until Betty's death in 2002. Paul was awarded the JC Penney "Golden Rule Volunteer" award in 1996.
Living with his niece Judy and her husband Jim in Merced, Paul took a senior writing class, leaving his family the gift of the stories of his life. It was there Paul met the next love of his life, Marquita McIntire. At ages 79 and 78, Paul and Marquita were married. They spent 9 happy years together. Combined they have 19 children, so there was never a dull moment! Together they attended many WWII Submarine conventions across the country visiting friends and family along the way.
Paul was preceded in death by his wife of 46 years Betty Geisler, his parents Daniel and Elizabeth Geisler, brother Dan Geisler, daughter Paula Serrano, sons-in-law Bob Elliot, Bill Vartan, and Howard Scott, granddaughter Cory James, and infant granddaughter Dalana. Also his best friend "Lady the break dancing K-9".
Paul is survived by his wife of 9 years Marquita, his oldest brother George Geisler (Helen), daughters Kathy James (Bob), Lorrain Elliot, Martha Vartan, son-in-law Porfie Serrano, daughters Jennifer Monday (Dave), Danna Allen, Delia Scott, and niece Judy Smothers-Numov (Jim). Also 9 grandchildren including Donnie James, Deann James, Kevin Fernandes, Denny Fernandes, Pamela Todd, Pricilla Mondejar, Dena Guajardo, Kerri Cavin and Brian Vartan.  Plus great grandchildren Minda, Brad, Marta, Steve, Karen, Curtis, Pam, Joel, Kathy; nephew Daniel Farmer (Pakamon), and the whole loving McIntire family.
Paul loved his family, his fellow man, and couldn't have lived a more full generous and happy life.
Committal service will be held at 9:00a.m. on Monday, June 30, 2014 at San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery. Celebration of life will be held also on Monday at 11:30a.m. at Allen Event Center 239 N Broadway Turlock, CA 95380.
