Richard Johansen
May 26, 1933 - March 27, 2022
Modesto, California - Dick was born and raised in Modesto and graduated from Modesto High School. He was a beloved Husband and Father. He retired from the Modesto City Parks and Rec. Dept. after 39 years. He was a Korean War Veteran 1953 and a member of Veteran of Foreign Wars, American Legion Post 0074 Modesto, Ca. Former member of Stockton Yacht Club, Central Valley Classic Chevy Club, Old Fishermen's Camper Club, FMCA, Elks Lodge, Moose Lodge and Escalon Sportsmen's Club. Preceded in death by Alice Johansen, wife of 44 years and stepchildren Kathy Britton, Karl Nylander and step grandson, Brandan Nylander. Survived by Ginger Johansen, wife of 19 years, daughter Sherry Ball (Clifford) grandson Austin Ball, son Steven Johansen, grandson Kyle Johansen. Stepchildren Kristine Brott, Kurt Nylander (Sarena) seven step grandchildren and one great grandson. Dick will be remembered as a loving, thoughtful and caring man with a great sense of humor. He loved working in his yard, gardening, working on old cars and he always had a passion for boating. He spent many summers at Tiki Lagoon on his houseboat and loved spending time at his home in San Filipe, Mexico, where he spent the later part of his life. He will forever be remembered and greatly missed.
Celebration of life to be held at a later date.
