Richard Petree Obituary

Richard Loy Petree

November 13, 1947 - August 10, 2025

Modesto, California - Richard Loy Petree, 77, of Modesto, California, passed away peacefully on August 10, 2025. Born on November 13, 1947, in New York City to Loy and Frances Petree, his family moved to Modesto when he was just a year old, and it became his lifelong home. He attended Burbank and Mark Twain schools, graduating from Modesto High School in 1965.

Richard worked hard all his life. His strong work ethic and natural talent as a maintenance mechanic led to a long and successful career with respected companies including Gallo, Del Monte, Heinz, and Con-Agra.

Outside of work, Richard found joy in life's simple pleasures: strumming his guitar, casting a fishing line, and, most of all, cherishing time with his family.

He is survived by his devoted wife and partner of 50 years, Vicki; his children Jennifer, Aaron, Johanna, Breann, and Robert; his cherished grandchildren Phaedra, Ellis, and Teague; his sisters Linda and Nancy; his brother Loy Jr.; and many beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Eddie.

A celebration of Richard's life will be held on August 31, 2025, where family and friends will gather to honor his memory.

Richard will be remembered for his steadfast love of family, his generosity as a mentor, his great laugh, his sense of humor, and his big personality.
