Mr Robert B. Fish of Crandall Way in Modesto, CA passed away on 9/26/15 from congestive heart failure & kidney disease. Mr Fish was born on January 29th, 1930 at the Crittendon Home for unwed mothers in Souix City, Iowa. His father was Robert Earl Hosford and mother Faye Edith Fish, both from Platte, Charles Mix Co, South Dakota. The first seven years of Robert's life was spent living with his mother in South Dakota first at Platte & later on a farm in Geddes. In 1937 Robert & his mother moved to Portland, OR for a few months then to Sunnyside Washington. In early 1938 his mother married Francis E. Hart and Robert was raised by them for the next twelve years on the ranch north of Sunnyside. After graduation from Sunnyside High School in 1949, Mr Fish was called to military service in the US Army during the Korean War. He had belonged to the 420th Anti-Aircraft Artillery Battalion of the Washington National Guard, joining in 1947. After a short term of service Robert was honorably discharged Sept of 1951 at Ft Bliss, El Paso, TX. Then in early 1952 he went to Ketchikan, Alaska to start his working career with a family friend & mentor, Max Bedwell of Sunnyside, WA. Robert became a Construction Field Engineer & Project Superintendent, working on many hydroelectric, industrial & nuclear projects; primarily for Guy F. Atkinson Co. of South San Francisco, California from 1952 until retirement in 1991. He participated in the construction of two local hydro-electric projects, New Don Pedro Dam & New Melones Dam. Mr Fish & his family have lived where the company sent them on assignment: Alaska, Washington, Oregon, California, Missouri, Colorado, & West Pakistan. When in Pakistan for five years in the early 1960Õs they worked on building the Mangla Hydroelectric Project, at the time the largest project of its kind in the world, located in the heart of Rudyard Kipling country between Lahore & Rawalpindi in the Punjab. Robert is a member of Masonic Lodge, Light in The Himalayas, # 1448 EC of Rawalpindi, Pakistan; Scottish Rite of Freemasonry, of Sacramento, CA & Ben Ali Shriners Lodge of Sacramento, CA. Mr Fish was preceded in death by his wife, MAITA LEE FISH of Modesto, California in April 10th, 2005, daughter Laura Susan in 1959, & stepdaughter Linda Ray in 1995. He is survived by daughter Teresa L McPherson of Napa, CA, son Jeffrey S. Fish of Albion OK, daughter Rebecca L Mouzakis of Rohnert Park, CA, five grandchildren, 1 great granddaughter, and thirteen brothers & sisters living in Washington & Idaho. Franklin and Downs Funeral Home is honored to be serving Robert's family. A Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 30, 2015 from 5:00 P.M. - 7:00 P.M. at Franklin & Downs Funeral Home, 1050 McHenry Avenue in Modesto. A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, October 1, 2015 at 11:00 A.M. at Franklin & Downs Funeral Home. Burial will be held at Lakewood Memorial Park, 900 Santa Fe Avenue in Hughson.
