Vivian Dunegan Obituary

VIVIAN L. DUNEGAN
NOVEMBER 27, 1921 - AUGUST 5, 2012
God called her home with the Heaven's Angels singing a welcome of Vivian Lorene Jamison Dunegan on August 5th, 2012, with her family at her bedside.
She was greeted at the gates of Heaven by her husband, Johnnie V. Dunegan, who preceded her in death on June 20th, 2011. They were married almost 60 years. Mom, momma, grandma, sister and aunt was born November 27, 1921. She was 90 years old.
She's preceded in death by her son Kenny Chapman, grandson Scott Chapman, parents Rev. Willard and Bea Jamison, brothers; Rev. Leon and Clara Jamison, Jay and Evelyn Jamison, Joe Jamison, sisters; Carolyn Jamison Davis, Vera Jamison Raymer and QT, Eva Jamison Raymer and Adrian.
She was the eldest of 8. She looked to God and the heavens for his guidance for her life's road map.
She went back to school and became a LVN at Memorial South, Ceres. She was so admired and loved by her peers of her bedside manner. She truely knew that God had guided her to be an angel here on earth to serve the ill.
She was a giver, a mentor, a supporter, one that you could have talks with and love you with that unconditional love. She loved cooking and baking, the more the merrier, the more noise of her kids and grandkids were the signs of everlasting happiness.
She always made sure to make the grandkids their favorite desserts on their upcoming visits. She loved canning, it brought joy to her to give them out to her kids and grandkids. At 89, she taught her daughter Jonni all the tricks and advice to carry on her successful secrets to her canning and the love she felt giving.
Vivian played the organ and was involved with women's ministries and taught Sunday school at her church, The First General Baptist Church of Oakdale, that her brother Rev. Leon Jamison pastored.
She loved and enjoyed traveling and camping with her soul mate, Johnnie, to the different places of God's creations. She was proud to be a Cherokee Indian and had great stories to tell about her heritage.
She was born in Talequah, Oklahoma and attended grammar school, high school and North Eastern University, where she played the clarinet in the college band.
She loved her Sacramento Kings and loved her college football. College football to her was better and faster she always said. She would always root for her Oklahoma Sooners and when they didn't play, she always was for the underdog.
Her love, teachings and memories are engraved in our minds and hearts for those of us left here on earth.
Her children left behind to carry on her wisdom and unconditional love are; sons, James (Bud) and Marla Chapman, Bill and Debbie Chapman; daughter, Jonni V. Dunegan Esposito and George; baby sister, Gloria Jamison Cook and Bob.
Her grandkids were her life, Jana Chapman Plon and Ed, Matt and Jennifer Chapman, Kim Chapman and Ronnie Gonzales, Stephanie Chapman Doty and James, Renee Chapman Dorsey and Grant, Alisa Chapman, Braden and Jennifer Griffiths, Devin and Kylee Griffiths, Jennifer Thompson, Julie Thompson Davis and Dan and Jim (Jimmer) Thompson.
A viewing will be held on Wednesday, August 8th from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM with a chapel service on Thursday, August 9th at 10:00 AM, both at Lakewood Funeral Home, 900 Santa Fe Ave., Hughson, CA. Lakewood Funeral Home entrusted with arrangements.
The family would like to give thanks to Cypress and Brandel Manor for all the love, thoughtfulness and dignity that they provided for our mother while in Turlock. A guestbook for remembrances and condolences is at www.lakewoodhughson.com.

Dearest Dunegan Family. I have such sweet memories and love for Vivian. I enjoyed our Bible studies at the First General Baptist Church in Oakdale. She is with her Lord and her loving husband John. She will always be in my heart. God bless you all.

So many precious memories of my Aunt Vivian. I do know that I always looked forward to her Sunday School classes. She was always prepared and made the lessons so interesting and understandable. Never did I ever realize that Aunt Viv and Mom would enter into the very presence of the Lord less than a week apart. Their absence leave a great void in our hearts. I can't speak for anyone but myself, but I will see them both again thanks to Calvary!!

Love you Bud, Bill, Jonni, Gloria and families!

Thank you momma for all your sacrifices for me in my life, I know you were so tired and missed daddy so much, you knew we all would be fine, and God needed you in heaven. I will never forget all our trips shopping and all the clothes you made me at the last minute and being so tired from working all night long with never a complaint. You were so strong to the end. Please be my angel on my shoulder to remind me the right thing to do, and tell daddy I miss him so much and I know you both are so happy once again and that gives me peace. I love you Momma.
Love,
Sissy
