Wayne Montgomery Brooks, 94 went home to be with his Lord Jesus Christ on Sunday, January 8, 2017. Wayne was born on November 28, 1922 in Santa Ana, California to Ernest Lloyd and Kathleen Emma Brooks.
 Wayne spent his childhood in Southern California, graduating from Santa Ana High School in 1941. Wayne joined the Army Air Force (AAF) in 1942. He was honorably discharged in 1946. Wayne then accepted an opportunity to work with his Uncle Jay, on his citrus farming operation located in Santa Ana. He later was employed by Cox Company, which maintained railroad right-of-ways and was responsible for a variety of operational positions. Wayne married his beautiful wife Beverly in 1952, making their home in Garden Grove, California prior to moving to Patterson in 1962 to pursue a farming opportunity. Wayne farmed apricots in Patterson and Westley and continued to do so for the next twenty years. Wayne is best known for his time spent serving on the Patterson Fire Department. Upon retiring from farming he assumed the role as Assistant Fire Chief, for the next twenty plus years. Wayne had a lifelong love of watching football (Go USC Trojans), spending time his with family, many vacations in Newport Beach, California, coffee with his buddies at Mil's, all of his many dogs, and Beverly's cooking!
 Wayne was devoted to his family. He is survived by his wife, Beverly Brooks, the two celebrated 62 years of marriage in 2016; twin sister, Emmy Lou Schroeder of Southern California; sons, Steve (Mindy), Craig (Samantha), Jay (Connie), Mark (Ranae) and Rob (Sarah). Wayne was a proud "Papa" to his fifteen grandchildren: Whitney, Justin, Christa, Elizabeth, Shelby, Kathleen, Lindsay, Chad, Ian, Steele, Matthew, Gina, William, Eric, Megan and Michael; One great-grandson, Paxton (Whitney's son). He was preceded in death by his brother, William Gordon Brooks and son, William Gregory Brooks.
 A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 am, Thursday, January 12th the Westley Fire Department located at: 8598 Kern Street, Westley, California with a reception immediately following.
