William Condit Obituary

Dr. William E.B. Condit
May 1924 - July 2013
William E. B. Condit was born May 1, 1924, in Locust Grove, OK, to W. C. & Pigeon (Ross) Condit. He departed this life on Monday, June 24, 2013, at his home in Pryor, OK, reaching the age of 89 years, 1 month, & 23 days.
E.B. grew up & graduated from Locust Grove High School in 1943. He furthered his education at Northeastern State College where he graduated in 1953 with a degree in Industrial Arts. He finished his education by obtaining his Doctorate of Theology while living in Sacramento, CA.
E.B. served his country proudly in the United States Navy from October 1, 1943 until January 11, 1946. On July 5, 1946, Mary Louise Littlefield & William E.B. Condit were united in marriage. This began a marriage of 67 years that coupled raising a family in the ministry, pastoring churches from North Carolina to California, ministering for over 64 years.
E.B.'s walk with the Lord started when he was saved at the age of 13. In 1949, he organized the Little Rock Free Will Baptist Church east of Locust Grove where he was their first pastor. He then spent 1 year at Lowry Free Will Baptist Church before organizing Trinity Free Will Baptist Church in Muskogee. After 3 years there, E.B. was the pastor at Free Will Baptist Churches in Wewoka, OK, Bakersfield, CA, Ponca City, OK, Modesto, CA, Campbell, CA, Concord, CA, Ontario, CA, Farmville, NC, back to Campbell, CA, and Lompoc, CA. He also served as interim pastor & in home missions at many churches in between.
E.B. served on the California State Mission Board as well as the California Christian College Board for 17 years.  Many pastors and Christian leaders were born from E.B.s ministry throughout the years.  Before moving back to OK, they lived in Lodi, CA. Their ministry in California spanned over 38 years. He and his wife moved back to Mayes County, OK in 1998 where they lived west of Pryor. He remained an honorary member of Capital Free Will Baptist Church in Sacramento, CA. Currently, as time & health allowed, E.B. loved spending time worshiping, mentoring and encouraging other pastors.
E.B.'s call was to lead people to Jesus Christ & was known as a "Praying Pastor". He always put God first. He also treasured the time he spent with his family & provided a great fatherly image for his children & grandchildren to follow. Every two months, his family would receive a hand written encouraging message from him. E.B. loved to watch football. He was a avid Oklahoma Sooner Football fan! He was also a fan of the San Francisco 49ers. E.B. was very patriotic & was known to write governmental dignitaries to share what he believed to be right. For 5 years, E.B. played guitar & sang in a family quartet that shared in song & preaching by broadcasting at KOLS radio in Pryor. He was also a founding member of the original Cherokee Ramblers Band. E.B.'s life serves as an example to follow & his ministry will flourish for many generations to come. He will be missed dearly by all that knew him.
E.B. is survived by: Wife: Mary Louise Condit of Pryor, OK; Son: Larry E.B. Condit & wife Joan of Carmichael, CA; 2 daughters: Pamala Kennedy Chestnut & husband Troy of Owasso, OK & Debera Condit Combs & husband Steve of Lodi, CA; 7 Grandchildren: Lisa Wibber & husband Perry of Auburn, CA, Caren Wilbanks & husband Rob of Elk Grove, CA, Apryl Kennedy of San Jose, CA, Amy Thomas & husband Neil of Owasso, OK, Aaron Kennedy of Tulsa, OK, Ryan Combs & wife Jessica of Sacramento, CA, & Cari Treat & husband Brian of Lodi, CA; 13 great grandchildren: Ashley & Blake Wibber of Auburn, CA, Morgan & Ethan Wilbanks of Elk Grove, CA, Chelsea, Jewel, Brad, & Brandon Smedley of San Jose, CA, Emma & Micah Thomas of Owasso, OK, Hannah Combs of Sacramento, CA, & Chloe & Hudson Treat of Lodi, CA; Sister: Erma Lee Condit Rogers of Salina, OK; Brother: Adrian Condit & wife Jean of Ceres, CA; E.B. was preceded in death by: his parents: W.C. & Pigeon Condit; Sister: Dovie Condit; 2 brothers: Marion Condit & Owen Condit; and grandson: Robert William Combs.

My heart and love go out to all the Condit family in their loss. I have fond memories of E.B. and always enjoyed see him when he came to Sacramento. Some day we will all be together again and sing around the throne. God bless you.
