GARY REED Obituary

Gary L Reed, age 82, of Bullhead City, Arizona passed away peacefully on Friday, November 17, 2023 at his home, surrounded by his beloved wife of nearly 60 years, Judi Reed.
Gary was born in Douglas, Wyoming in 1941 to his parents Nerwin and Jeannette Reed, and spent his childhood years in the small town of Glenrock, Wyoming. After graduating from the University of Wyoming, Gary joined the US Navy as a communications specialist. His first professional job after the service was as a lobbyist for Pacific Power and Light (PP&L) in Portland, Orgeon. where he and Judi welcomed their two sons.
Seeking a return to Wyoming and having an opportunity to continue to work for PP&L, Gary and Judi moved their young family back to Casper, Wyoming. where their only daughter was born.
Tired of the corporate-life and wanting to own his own business, they moved back to his hometown of Glenrock and opened a Coast-to-Coast hardware store. This is where Gary and Judi raised their family in the small town of Glenrock surrounded by his parents, his twin sisters, Jana Tyler and Lana Richardson of Glenrock, Wyoming, their families, and lots of friends around town.
Gary was very active in his community with the Chamber of Commerce and the volunteer Fire Department. He also was driven to improve the small town that he grew up in by developing retail locations, housing subdivisions, opening multiple small businesses such as a bakery, craft store, and even a 9-hole golf course for the community!
Due to the boom-and-bust economic cycles of Wyoming, he ultimately moved his family and his hardware store to Bullhead City, Arizona, and later to Needles, California as Hardware Express. Gary and Judi became part of the Bullhead City and Needles communities making many friends and giving time to both the Rotary and the Chamber.
Gary was not all business. He might most be remembered for his dry? humor and always wanting to get a laugh out of those around him. He worked a lot making his business successful but he always found time to get in a round of golf with friends, fly a single-engine Cessna around the area, and spend time with his family – his proudest achievement.
Gary is survived by his children; Nevin Reed (Las Vegas, Nevada), Robert (Megan) Reed (Bellevue, Washington), and Alyson (Lyle) Karstensen (Las Vegas, Nevada); his amazing grandchildren Shawnie Lucchino and Gavon Karstenson (both Las Vegas, Nevada) Hudson, Gunner, and Hayden Reed (Bellevue, Washington); plus one special great granddaughter, Aubry.
