GORDON JAENISCH Gordon Jaenisch, 92, of Maynard passed away Wednesday, June 28, 2023, at Luther Haven in Montevideo. Memorial Services will be Friday, July 28, 2023, at 11 a.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Clara City. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. at the church, one hour prior to the service. Gordon Ralph Jaenisch was born on April 6, 1931, to Fred and Marie (Teichert) Jaenisch in Crate Township. He was baptized and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Clara City. Gordon attended school at District #3. He enlisted in the United States Army on March 15, 1955, and was later honorably discharged. Gordon was united in marriage to MaryAnn Sundlee on September 12, 1954, at Our Saviors Lutheran Church of Baxter, rural Montevideo. Gordon started farming in 1957 and retired from it in 1986. Following retirement, Gordon worked for Minnesota Farmer's Elevator in Granite Falls for five years and later worked at Cenex Fertilizer Department in Montevideo. Gordon served on many boards in his community including the Church Council for Immanuel Lutheran Church of Clara City, Chippewa County Pork Producers, Chippewa County Zoning Boards, Gluek Farmers Elevator Board and the REC Board of Montevideo. He was active with 4-H, enjoyed helping his kids with it, and even volunteered as a Club Leader. Gordon was also a Post Commander and Adjutant of the American Legion in Maynard. Gordon enjoyed dancing, playing cards, (his nickname to his friends was 'Queen of Hearts'), traveling, and watching the Minnesota Twins. Gordon is survived by his wife, MaryAnn; daughters, Tamara Leyendecker, Trudy (friend, Dana) Friedl; grandchildren, Christina (Leif) Stinson, Megan Rose (Jason) Stonehocker, Jessica Leyendecker, Justin Zaher, Kareem Zaher, John Leyendecker, Adam Wagner; great-grandchildren, Aiden, Arianna, Shanyia; brothers-and sisters-in-law, Dennis (Lavonne) Sundlee, Loren (Debbie) Sundlee, Sharon Olson, Shirley Sundlee; grandpup, Chloie Bella; as well as other relatives and friends. Gordon is preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Marie; grandson, Andrew Friedl; siblings, Carl Jaenisch, Dan Jaenisch, Harold Jaenisch, Art Jaenisch, Lilly Rhode, Gustie Zimmer; brothers-in-law, Orlin Sundlee, Merrill Sundlee, Kenny Sundlee.
