Charles Scardina Obituary

Charles "Chuck" Scardina
August 10, 1931 - March 12, 2021
Carmel, CA
Chuck was raised in Seaside where his father became Fire Captain and his mother was the grandest cook on earth. Following high school, he joined the Navy where he studied photojournalism. After a stint in the Korean War, he was sent to the University of Michigan to continue studying photojournalism. He left the Navy to take a job as chief photographer at the Desert Sun newspaper in Palm Springs, CA. After 13 summers (6 months of grueling heat), he returned here to paradise and continued photography. That's who he was. Chuck entered the world multi-talented. Whenever his long fingers were wrapped around any writing implement he could draw - whether a cartoon of a long worm holding a tiny umbrella or an exquisite ink line drawing of a home, he could draw. On stage, he was revered as a crackerjack actor and in front of a piano, he could play with no training. He was the finest, most unusual man I was happily married to for 62 years. Love ya, just, Dodie

I found this in my grandfathers box of memories. He was a film editor. What a treat. Sounds like an amazing man!!!

Hi, Dodie... I miss seeing you and Chuck on assignments and elsewhere like I used to. He was always, always in good humor, and the two of you made such a loving couple. I saw him on local stages, especially at the Forest Theater ("Pipe Dream"?)... He knew how to have fun with a part. Fun with life, too. I'm in Bellingham, WA now, I will miss him. A big hug for you, Dodie ...Alan
