Lenore Masterson Obituary

Lenore Masterson, a long-time Marina resident and community leader, passed away on June 29, 2023. A celebration of life will be held on July 22 at 11 AM at the Marina American Legion Post 694. Lenore was born into a US Air Force family in Greenville, South Carolina on May 19, 1946 – one of the very first Baby Boomers. As with most military families, Lenore was raised on bases across the Country as well as in England. Lenore earned a degree in art at a Sacramento college, where she met her lifelong partner, Mike. Lenore and Mike lived in various locations in the Bay area as well as Houston, Texas for Mike's work while Lenore pursued her art shows, until finally settling in Marina in the early 1990s - a place where they could put down some roots. With Lenore's outgoing personality and leadership skills, she immediately got involved in numerous civic activities and organizations including the Marina Youth Arts and the Lions Club. Her most notable contribution was the fundraising for, development and completion of the Marina Library. Lenore's contributions to the City of Marina are numerous and significant. She had countless friends, associates and customers. Her presence and energy will be greatly missed, however, as an artist, Lenore lives on through her paintings – treasured by family, friends and clients. Lenore is survived by her husband Mike Masterson, and her brothers Marc and Leonard Bommersbach of Healdsburg and Napa respectively. In lieu of flowers, donations can be directed via mail to: The Marina Foundation, Attn: Lenore Masterson Creative Arts Scholarship, P.O. Box 324, Marina, CA 93933.
