A few weeks before his passing, my wife and I visited with Grandpa for a few days. We went to lunch and to dinner and just spent some time together talking and reminiscing. During one of our conversations he leaned over to me and asked, "Are you still a religious man?" "Yes, I am Grandpa." I replied. "Good." He said. "Don't ever think that you're too good for the Lord. A few years back I lost God in my life. I thought I was pretty tough stuff and I fell hard. It took a while, but I found him again." Then he looked me straight in my eyes and said, "Don't ever lose God in your life. No matter what happens, don't lose him." May we all live with the same passion for life, the same compassion for others, and the same reverence for God as Grandpa did. I know that we will see his smiling face again... what a beautiful reunion that will be. I will not lose God Grandpa, and I will not lose you. I love you.
Joan, you have been an angel to my dear grandfather. Thank you for loving him and caring for him. You are an amazing woman and I love you. (I still want to take that trip with you to Canada... and Mexico!)
With Love,

We love you grandpa! I am so sorry Joan. I remember living at your house when us kids were much younger- The "game room" was something always remembered at grandpa's house. Grandpa always had neat little "treasures" for his grandchildren each time we saw him. Grandpa will always be remembered. We are so sorry we could not be there. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and we love you all very much.

Hi Joan, I am so sorry to hear about Pete, wow, what a shock, but, I do remember you telling me that he was in the hospital the last time I spoke to you. He was a great man, and you were blessed to have him, as any of us who knew him were also blessed. He always thought of others. When I worked at the Oldemeyer Center, he was always there to lend a helping hand. He will be greatly missed. I am deeply saddened by this news. He is with the Lord now, no more pain and suffering, but, I know its still hard. I want to send my deepest condolances to all of the Riso family.
Sincerely
Carolyn DiMaggio-Campbell
