Steve Crowell was born in Skagway, Alaska on April 24, 1937 and spent most of his youth in Michigan. He was an extremely proud graduate of the Army Language Institute in Monterey and spoke Russian fluently; this began his love for languages, the Monterey area and the ocean. Upon retirement, he relocated to Sequim, WA, then returned to the Monterey Area, living in the area that he loved, near the ocean for the rest of his life.
