DAN WISE Obituary

WISE, DAN SCOTT (U.S.A.F. ret) born August 29, 1924, a resident of Pike Road, AL, passed away on December 9, 2012, after an extended illness. A memorial service will be held at First United Methodist Church on Friday, December 14, at 2:00 pm with visitation at 1:00 p.m. Dr. R. Lawson Bryan officiating.

Colonel Wise grew up in Mississippi and retired from the Air Force in 1970 at Gunter AFB after 28 years service. He served in World War II as a pilot in Burma, supporting the British, and over the Himalayan Hump into China. He was a Forward Air Controller in Vietnam, flying over one hundred missions. He was graduated from Troy University at Montgomery and held an MBA from Auburn Montgomery. Colonel Wise held numerous Service Awards. After retirement, he worked for several years in the Alabama State Revenue Department.

Colonel Wise was preceded in death by his parents, Sara Avery and Dan Scott Wise, and wife, Elizabeth Ryan Wise. He is survived by his wife, Maude Plowden Wise; son, Ryan Scott Wise (Shannon) of Alexandria, VA; daughter, Sally Brannen Young (Rusty), Micanopy, FL and son, Bruce Brannen (Vernelle), Pike Road, AL; grandsons, Daniel Wise (Dana), Colonial Beach, VA, 1st Lt. Benjamin Wise, Ft. Bragg, NC and Andrew Wise, Alexandria, VA; granddaughter, Dawn Gibbs (Forrest), Robertsdale, AL and four great-grandchildren.

Members of the Tower Sunday School Class will be honorary pallbearers.

Memorials to First United Methodist Church, 2416 West Park Avenue, Montgomery, AL 36106, or to other favorite charities, will be appreciated.
