SINGLETARY, Jr., David B.,our wonderful daddy, wenthome to heaven to be withthe Lord, on September 14,2011, and is well and atpeace after a courageousbattle with lung cancer.David was born on March28, 1929. David's family and friendswill miss his quick wit, hisgift with a grill, his wonderful cooking, and his enormous hugs. He never met astranger. His contagioussmile lit up his corner of theworld. David retired from Alabama Metal Industries. Davidserved our country duringthe Korean War, as member of the Pilipino Infantryin the 955th Field Artillery.He was a member of theMasonic Lodge. He servedhis Lord as a deacon ofGlennwood Baptist Church,where he had attendedsince childhood. David was preceded indeath by his loving wife of58 years, Betty Lou BookerSingletary. David leaves behind hisloving children, CynthiaSingletary Densmore andher husband C. RandallDensmore, Morris, AL, andLyvonnia Singletary Poppell and her husband Samuel W. Poppell, Jr., Montgomery, AL; five devotedgrandchildren, Haley Densmore Allen (Nick Allen),Ryan Lance Densmore, Aubri Michelle Poppell, Samuel W. Poppell, III (Trey) andNatalie Blair Poppell; twobrothers, Bert Singletaryand Ernest Singletary; onesister, Arlene Comer andnumerous nieces andnephews. His parents, David B. and Lois Glenn Singletary; a sister, Rachel Borella, and a brother EarlSingletary, preceded himin death. David was a resident of Morris, Alabama. A celebration of David's lifewill be held at GardendaleFuneral Home, 2214 Decatur Highway, Gardendale,Alabama, on Friday, September 16, 2011 at 2:00p.m. with Brother TimThompson officiating.Graveside Services will follow at Glennwood BaptistChurch Cemetery, 1929Glennwood Road, Morris,Alabama. The family willreceive visitors at Gardendale Funeral Home onThursday, September 15,2011, from 5:00 until 8:00p.m. In lieu of flowers thefamily has asked that youmake contributions toGlennwood Baptist Church.Active pallbearers includeMr. Singletary's grandsons,Ryan and Trey, Nick Allen,Thomas Booker, Mike Doss,Ron Lindsey, Steve Porter,and Matt Thomas.
