GARRETT, Hester Annette Si¡dorfsky. Funeral services forHester A. Garrett, age 94 ofMontgomery, will be held Sat¡urday, November 27, 2010 at11:00 a.m. at Leak MemoryChapel. The Reverend JohnEd Mathison will officiate. Visi¡tation will be at 10:00 a.m. un¡til time of service. Burial serv¡ices, conducted by ReverendRhon Carleton, will follow at2:30 p.m. at Elmwood Ceme¡tery in Birmingham. Mrs. Gar¡rett died on November 23,2010. She was born Novem¡ber 20, 1916 in Sao Paulo, Bra¡zil to the late Henry A. andGrace Howe Sidorfsky. Her fa¡ther was superintendent of anelectrical power plant at SaoPaulo. Later he moved hisfamily to Birmingham wherehe was employed by Ala¡bama Power Company. Mrs.Garrett graduated from Ram¡sey High School and fromAlabama Polytechnic Institute(Auburn University) in 1938.She met and married her hus¡band, James Vann Garrett,while at Auburn. They en¡joyed over 50 years togetheruntil his passing in 1991. Theirbeloved son, James Henry(Hank) was born in 1944 anddied in a traffic accident in1973. Mrs. Garrett taughtHome Economics at Bellin¡grath School for many years.Her church, Frazier UnitedMethodist, and her FriendshipSunday School Class meantmuch to her through theyears. Mrs. Garrett was amember of the Hypatia Liter¡ary Club and Arrowhead Es¡tates Garden Club. She spentmany enjoyable hours gar¡dening and playing bridgewith her friends and was anavid supporter of her belovedAuburn Tigers. She was pre¡ceded in death by her par¡ents, her husband, her sonand her brother Karl. Mrs.Garrett is survived by a host offriends and loved ones whowill miss her deeply.
