Jesse Preston Jr.

1931 - 2017

Jesse Preston Jr, age 85 of the Hurdlow Community, passed away on Wednesday, March 1, 2017 at St. Thomas Rutherford in Murfreesboro. He was born on June 29, 1931 to the late Jesse (Laura Tucker) Preston Sr. Jesse served in the United States Army before farming. He enjoyed wood working and working with toy tractors in his spare time. Jesse was a longtime, devoted member of Brandon's Chapel United Methodist Church. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Billy Preston; and sister, Mary Peck. Jesse is survived by his wife, Regina Preston of Belvidere; sons, John David (Ashley) Preston of Bell Buckle, and Matthew Durm (Julie) Scruggs of Winchester; sister, Kathryn Fagg of Tullahoma; and grandchildren, Dylan Scruggs, Lauren Scruggs, and a little Preston on the way. Visitation will be from 5-8 PM Friday at Moore-Cortner Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, March 4, 2017 in the Moore-Cortner Chapel with Rev. A.J. Alderman officiating. Interment will follow in Beech Hill Cemetery with John David Preston, Matthew Scruggs, Glen "Handy" Harrison, Kevin Riddle, Kary Robertson, Tracy Robertson, Toru Hongo, and Daniel Gray serving as pallbearers .
