To All the Family of Matt,
I only met Matt through his profession
at Lake Norman Med. Center. He was my
Sister's(Frances Witherspoon) nurse. He made such an impression on me. Always a smile, always an excellent nurse, and always an Ambassador for his
Lord and Savior. You could just see
Jesus in his face, in his work and in
all that he did. He prayed with us and
encouraged us, and we knew it wasn't
just from his lips. I believe that
Matt loved the Lord with all his Heart, Mind and Soul. I believe that
the minute he left this life, he was in
the Presence of God. Although, I did
not know him for a long time, my family
had known him. Everyone I talked with was happy to have known him and
proud to call him "Friend". I offer my
Sympathies and my prayers for your
loss and God's healing, just as Matt
prayed with us for my sister's healing.
In God's Love,
Joan Grattendick

To All-
First off I would like to say to the family that Matt will be dearly missed. He was always a standout guy and had a lasting affect on anyone he came to know. There isn't a day that doesn't go by that I don't think of something else good that he did with his life. He had a major affect on my life in past years that I will never forget. It's hard to think he is gone, I just wish in these past few years I could have stayed in touch more. He was like a big brother to me there for so many years. I looked up to him more than anyone when I was young. If there is one thing I've learned from all this it is.... that to hold on to those people in your life that changed you, that made you who you are, cherish them and keep in touch as often as possible. Matt you will forever be in my heart! To the rest of the family I LOVE YOU GUYS... and I hope to see you soon.

I am so sorry for your loss. I just wanted to write and let you know what a difference Matt made in my mothers many illnesses. She always told me about this nurse Matt who would laugh and joke with her. She recently was hospitalized 4 times in about 10 weeks and was very ill. I remember one night she found out that he was working on the floor and asked for him to visit her. I had not met him until then and when he walked in the room my mothers face lit up and the biggest smile was on her face. It was as if his presence made her forget she was ill. He would talk to her about his wife and children and laugh and make jokes to comfort her and take her mind off of being ill. He would visit her with every hospitalization. He was a blessing from god for her and I know that he will be greatly missed but we know that god has a greater plan for him and that he will always be in our hearts and his wife and children in our prayers.

Although I never got to meet Matt, I feel like I knew him personally through "POP POP". Through Bob, we are updated with each of the precious family vacations and family photo events. Like Pam, I have the honor and priviledge to see all the albums with Bob's personal narrations to each. I'm grateful to have Bob as friend and co worker. He loves each of deeply as much as he loves God.
Each you brought such joy and love to Matt as he did in return for each of you. You can see through Bob what a wonderful family you have.
My family and I continue to pray for each single person that was involved or part of Matt's life.
Life's road ahead will be a challenge but each of you have such a strong faith in God that each of know that he will see you through the obstacles and life's challenges.
Our prayers, love, peace & blessings to each of you!!!!

As I browse thru the guest book, I am not at all suprised at all the wonderful comments I read about Matt.
Mike and Bonnie,
you raised a truly special young man, that touched so many lives and left a lasting memory with everyone he knew. Matt was so genuinely nice and kind. The world doesn't have many people like Matt, if it did it would be a much better place. I think that everyone that knew Matt was blessed. I know that me and my family will always remember Matt and we are better people for having known him. I want all of the family to know that we are so sorry and our hearts go out to each of you.

Hold onto the memories and the knowledge that you will be seeing him again, until then he is safely in the arms of Jesus. Keeping you all in our thoughts and prayers. Much love and prayers.

To the Whole Stewart & Haire Family,
Please remember, although easier said than done, that Matt is in Heaven and with the Lord. He is in the most wonderful place now and I imagine that the only tear he sheds now is a tear for all of his loved ones in pain. It is the living that are in pain now, the ones that go on are in the most wonderful place ever. Always know that he is with you in spirit and although it may seem like an eternity for the living before we all get to see our loved ones that have passed before us, it is only seconds to them. Matt is loving all of you from Heaven now. With God by his side, he is doing what he was doing during his last moments on earth...protecting his beautiful and treasured family. Angel, Shaun and I are always here for you. If you need or want ANYTHING at all, PLEASE let us know. Don't ever feel like you can't ask for anything. If you need money, toys for your little angels, clothing, or even a day or week that you do not feel like cooking dinner, let me know and I will do everything I can to help you out. I have a past that a lot of people judge me about, but I never got that from you or Matt. You have always welcomed my children to play with yours and that means a lot. We ALL love and miss you! Ali wants to play with her friend "Nomi" , as she calls her, so even the children are thinking of you. Please keep in touch and do not ever hesitate to ask for anything. Love Always, Danielle and Family

Words can not express how sorry my father and I are at your loss.I talked with Matt on Monday after putting my Dad back in the hospital.Over the last year Matt took great care of my father when he was at the hospital,I could go home and sleep knowing he was there with Dad,He prayed with him many times over the last year and always brought him great comfort. His smile could light up a room.He would come in my Dad's room and sit with him in the middle of the night when Dad could not sleep. He went that extra mile to make others happy. That is what made him such a special person. He often talked of what a wonderful wife he had and how blessed he was. Of his children and how much he loved his family. God took a true Angle home.He will be missed.May God bless you and your family in this time of sorrow.May the love of friends, family an God carry you through your grief.Take comfort in knowing that now you have a special guardian angel to watch over you.

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.
Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."
It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man.
God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.
When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.
I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.
There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.
If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.
So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.
And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

I want to express my sincerest sympathy
to all the Steward family and especially
to Angel, Naomi, Josiah and Hannah for your deep loss.
Matt was a great guy and above all a good Christian man who loved his family an friends dearly. He always treated me like family and I know he will be sorely missed. God's grace will see you all through this tragedy.
