Ruby Goodman CLEVELAND, N.C. Ruby Compton Goodman, 92, of Cleveland, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, Wednesday, Aug. 7, 2013, at Levine & Dickson Hospice House, Huntersville. Ruby was a devout Christian lady who loved the Lord. She was a woman who loved her family and they were her #1 possession in this world. She delighted in having her boys home every Sunday for lunch. She was a member of Pleasant Hill Primitive Baptist Church prior to her marriage and after marriage, she became a devoted member of Amity Lutheran Church in Cleveland. Ruby worked in textiles for more than 30 years. She was born in Iredell County Sept. 10, 1920, to the late James Garfield and Clarissa Mae Henry Compton. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Dennis "Bus" Goodman; and 15 brothers and sisters. She is survived by her loving sons, Jerry Goodman and wife, Kathy, Stanley Goodman and Joel Goodman; grandchildren, Lisa Honeycutt and husband, Todd, Chris Goodman and wife, Terry, Paula Lodge and husband, Eric, Scott Goodman and wife, Paula, Donna Goodman and David Goodman; great-grandchildren, Jared, Sidney, Alex, Blake, Cody, Brooke, Maggie, Katie, Natalie, Hannah and Hayley; and a niece, Paulette Turner. Visitation for family and friends was Friday, Aug. 9, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Cavin-Cook Funeral Home. Services were held Saturday, Aug. 10, at 2 p.m. at Amity Lutheran Church. The Revs. Gene Bruce and Dr. Larry Bost and Elder Steven Bloyd officiated. Burial followed in the church cemetery.
