Clyde Edward "Buster" Small

June 2, 1944 - March 23, 2021

Clyde Edward "Buster" Small, born June 2, 1944, in Burke County, passed away Tuesday, March 23, 2021, following a brief illness in Brookwood Hospital of Birmingham, Ala. He grew up in Morganton and was a resident of Birmingham, Ala.

He is the son of the late Clyde Edward Small Sr. and Helen Stamey Small of Morganton. He has three daughters, Lee Smothers of Raleigh, Connie Small of Cary and Beth Ingram of Pellem, Ala; two sons, the late William Small of Wake and Clyde E. Small III of Birmingham, Ala; brother, Tim Small of Morganton; two sisters, Woody Boland and Sara Lynn Oakley, both of Morganton; two grandsons, Austin and Braxton Berrios; three granddaughters, Scarlett Ingram, Bailey and Taylor Small; and great-granddaughter, Poppy Berrios.

Buster was a graduate of Morganton High School and the Cincinnati School of Mortuary Science. Following his work as a funeral director/mortician, he went into sales, then to own and operate a trucking transportation company in Alabama, and retired as the southeastern sales representative for Kingsdown.

A memorial service will be held Tuesday, April 20, at 2 p.m., at First Baptist Church with Dr. Thomas A. Bland, Jr. officiating.

Memorials can be made to First Baptist Church Music/Organ Fund.
