Dale Litterer Obituary

Dale Lawrence Litterer

February 17, 1949 - January 11, 2025

Dale Lawrence Litterer, 75, passed away on January 11, 2025, after an extended illness. Born on February 17, 1949, in Greene, IA, Dale was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He lived his life with deep love for his family.

Dale proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War, and later had a fulfilling career as a service technician with Multivac, Inc., working across the southeastern United States for over 25 years. An avid sports fan, Dale had a love for college football, cheering on the Iowa Hawkeyes and the UNC Tar Heels. In his retirement, Dale enjoyed gardening, woodworking, and lending a hand with home projects for his children. His steady presence, willingness to help his children, and dry wit were hallmarks of his character.

Dale was preceded in death by his parents, Leonard and Vera (Koester) Litterer. He is survived by his wife, Judy Litterer; and their children, Sara Keisler (Justin) of Granite Falls, NC; Rhonda Brown (Tim) of Raleigh, NC; and Jack Litterer of Newton, NC; two sisters, Myrna Ward (Skip) and Shari Proctor (Dale); three brothers, Stan Litterer (Lois), Gary Litterer (Sally), and Ron Litterer; and numerous nieces and nephews.

His greatest joy was spending time with his grandchildren, Ethan Pons, Reid Pons, Faith Pons, Finn Brown, Alistair Brown, Addie Keisler, and Ellie Keisler. He loved seeing them in every activity, and he traveled across the state to attend their sporting events, concerts, and recitals, his favorite pastime in recent years.

Dale touched many lives with his gentle spirit and his deep commitment to his family. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

The family will receive friends at Heritage Funeral Service on Thursday, January 16, 2025, from 2 to 3 p.m. There will be a brief service of inurnment at Burke Memorial Park, directly following with Rev. Timothy Brown officiating.

Memorials may be made to your local Veterans of Foreign Wars Post.
