Phyllis Roland

Phyllis Elmore Roland, 65, of Nebo, went home to be with her Lord on Saturday, May 5, 2007, at her residence. She was born Feb. 7, 1942, to Doc Rufus Elmore and Sunie Jane Wells Elmore. Her father, Doc Rufus Elmore, preceded her in death. She was a member of Bethel Freewill Baptist Church and was formerly employed by Sara Lee Knit Products of Morganton and later retired from McDowell County Senior Center. She was a beloved wife, mother and grandmother. Mrs. Roland leaves behind her husband, Jerry O. Roland of the home; her mother, Sunie Wells Elmore of Gaffney, SC; three children, Doug Price and wife, Marnie, of Valdese, Suzanne Levan and husband, Bud, of Valdese and Scott Roland and wife, Gail, of Northport, Ala.; two brothers, Jack Elmore and wife, Brenda, and Ray Elmore and wife, Barbara, both of Gaffney, S.C.; and four grandchildren, Ryan, Dillon, Tyler and Katilyn. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. today at Bethel Freewill Baptist Church with the Revs. Ray Stockton and Neil Price officiating. The family will receive friends from 10-11 a.m. one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in McDowell Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of McDowell County, 575 Airport Road, Marion, NC 28752. Westmoreland Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
