Ruby Bess

Ruby C. Bess HILDEBRAN Ruby Crump Bess, 91, of Hildebran, departed this life to her heavenly home Saturday, Dec. 15, 2012, at her residence following a period of declining health, surrounded by her loving family. She met her Saviour as the family sang her favorite song, "What a Day That Will Be." Mrs. Bess was born March 13, 1921, in Burke County, to the late Luther Crump and Ida Huffman Crump. She was a retired winder in the textile industry, and was a member of North Laurel Baptist Church for over 51 years. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, James Henry "Jim" Bess; and her daughter, Wanda Molesa. Survivors include her sons, Norman Bess and wife, Yvonne, of Hildebran and Melford Bess and wife, Debbie, of Connelly Springs; two daughters, Ruth Smith, of Hildebran and Rebecca Rhoney, of Hildebran. Also surviving are 15 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren and 14 great-great-grand-children. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 18, at North Laurel Baptist Church. Officiating will be the Revs. Marty Bess and Mike Wakefield. Interment will follow at the Brookford City Cemetery in Hickory. The family will receive friends Monday, Dec. 17, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Heritage Funeral Service in Valdese, where the body will remain until placed in the church 30 minutes prior to the funeral hour.
