NCSD has just lost a great man in Sam McCord. Sam was best known as a tough and fair dormitory houseparent to every pupil at Goodwin and Henderson Halls. My late mother said nothing, but finer things about him. He instilled discipline in me and I really appreciate him for what I have become now. Sam, you will be always be remembered.

He always greeted everyone with smile, explained about the historical facts and events at NCSD and remembered names. His brain functioned like a digital computer system!

Even though Sam is not with us anymore, his spirit, sense of humor and his presence will live on forever!

SAM McCORD...His name impacted almost every student and staff at NCSD that he served during his time at NCSD. What I remembered most about Sam is his strict but fair discipline to the boys including me under his supervison. I will never forget him as my first supervisor for giving me my name sign when my deaf parents enrolled me at NCSD Goodwin Hall in I964. I cherished many memories of Sam during the "Goodwin Hall days". Sam, you will not be forgotten and I'm sure you will continue to tell funny and historical stories that you have shared with many of us with our loved ones in Heaven. May the blessing of the Good Lord poured upon his family in this time of loss and remembrance. Jimmy & Patricia Autrey
