Jeannette Emmerich Obituary
She was born May 10, 1918 in Russia Township, Ohio. Jeannette was raised in Oberlin, graduating from Oberlin High School with the class of 1936. Jeannette was a 1938 graduate from Oberlin School of Commerce.
Jeannette along with her husband Irving were the founders and former owners of Emmerich Funeral Home in Amherst, which is now the Hempel Funeral Home. She was a former employee of People's Bank of Oberlin and the Lorain National Bank of Lorain. She was a member of Christ Lutheran Church in Avon Lake. Jeannette was a member of the Oberlin Grange, and the Lorain German American Club. She was also a member and past officer of the Stone City Chapter 325 of the Eastern Stars in Amherst, the Lakewood White Shrine and the South Lakewood Women's Club.
Survivors include her son I. Robert Emmerich, Jr. of Avon Lake; her daughter Kay A. Dangelo of Bay Village; her grandchildren Kris Boneck (Joe), Amy Dangelo,Jennifer Emmerich, Kevin Emmerich (Kate), Rob Emmerich (Beth) and Marybeth Jones (David); and four great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband of seventy-three years Irving Robert Emmerich on June 23, 2015; her brother Louis Berg; her sister Hazel Whitney Lang; and her parents Frederick and Martha Berg (nee: Lattemen).
Friends may call Tuesday, November 3, 2015 from 4-8 p.m. at the Hempel Funeral Home; 373 Cleveland Ave., Amherst. Eastern Star services will be held at 7:30 p.m. that evening. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, at 11:00 at the funeral home. The Rev. Jeff Steeber of Christ Lutheran Church of Avon Lake, will officiate. Burial will follow at Cleveland Avenue Cemetery, Amherst.
The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Saint Peter United Church of Christ 582 Church Street, Amherst, Ohio 44001 or Christ Lutheran Church 32747 Lake Road, Avon Lake, Ohio 44012.

I remember how Irv would share his candy winnings with Jeanette ....A mini sized candy bar cut in half...he slid it across the table to her and said, " here ya go Tootie" She will be greatly missed..
