Jim Stroh

Jim Stroh, 92 of Brownhelm Twp., formerly of Avon Lake, peacefully passed away at home with his wife and daughter at his side on Sunday, September 17, 2023. He was born June 2, 1931, to parents Gregory and Florence (nee Hogan) Stroh in Lakewood, OH.Jim was a 1949 graduate of Avon Lake High School and was employed as the Data Processing Manager for over 30 years for Ford Motor Company. He was a member of the American Legion Post 118, Amherst, where he served as treasurer for many years, and the Amvets of Vermilion. Jim played high school baseball and basketball and led the county in scoring from 1949-1950. He played professional minor league baseball and was eventually drafted by the Cleveland Indians. His passion for baseball led him to coach youth baseball, Avon Lake traveling ball, baseball and pitching for the Avon Lake High School for many years. He was inducted into the Avon Lake High School Sports Hall of Fame November 22, 1986.Jim enjoyed music, swimming, playing cards, dancing, reading, gardening, sports and playing chess. His true joy came from spending time with his wife, children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, friends, and his dogs.He is survived by his beloved wife of 45 years, Alice (nee Bragg); loving children Richard Stroh and Kathy Stroh; cherished grandchildren Jason and Justin Stroh; daughter in-law, Robin Stroh; sister in-law Etta Conley (Roger); nephew Russ (Tracy); great-nephews Christian, Jonah, and Noah.He is preceded in death by his parents; son, Marty Stroh (2013) and sister Donna Brown.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Jim's name may be forwarded to Boys Town (https://www.boystown.org/Pages/default.aspx ), St. Jude (https://www.stjude.org/ ) or to the Disabled Veterans (https://support.woundedwarriorproject.org/ ).Family will receive friends on Thursday, September 21, 2023, from 12:00pm â€" 1:30pm with a service to begin at 1:30pm at Busch Funeral Home 163 Avon Belden Rd., Avon Lake, OH 44012.
