I met Jo Ann and her special brother Jack in the fall of 1974 on a trip to Hawaii-the beginning of a special friendship spanning almost 50 years-many wonderful memories of visits with "Mother", celebrations of life including many specially planned, coordinated and documented by Jo Ann...
Yachting trips on Noah's Ark. Jo Ann always edifying her big brother, Jack, as she did with loyalty & respect to those she considered her close friends, family and business associates......the Jo Ann Schmauch Smile, Heart and concurrent generosity of Spirit-a woman who kept the Schmauch family legacy of entrepreneurship, Love of the Port of Lorain, active in quiet and unassuming service to her beloved community, agencies and small businesses which Jo Ann recognized, supported & humbly "served". She lived an "On Purpose Life". I am grateful for her friendship and especially the role that she played as a mentor on my formation of being and becoming an example and mentor to other Women. It is with Pride and Paradoxical Sadness for the Loss of Jo Ann who represents an Era of Service and Love that supports the root and fabric of living a Purpose filled Life. May She Rest in Peace with her beloved Family. With Love, Gratitude and Respect, Madeline

The volunteers and members will miss Jo-Ann for the work she has done for the Lorain Community Senior Center. The way she has handled the accounting and the group we have at the center has really benefited greatly from her experience and friendship. We were greatly blessed to have her.

So very sad to hear about Jo-Ann! I have been a neighbor for many years, and we worked together on our Associations board. She was always so kind and helpful. And had a great sense of humor, she was a hoot! One of the good ones who will be dearly missed! Love and prayers to her family!

So very sad to read of Jo-Ann's passing. I worked with her when a Trustee and Treasurer for the Lorain Historical Society several years ago. She was a great lady who loved to exchange humorous jabs and jokes. She will be missed by many. Rest easy my friend.
