Joseph Serfozo Obituary

Joseph "Bud" D. Serfozo, 84, of Lorain, passed away Tuesday, November 13, 2018 at Kingston of Vermilion, surrounded by his family, following a lengthy illness.
Born June 10, 1934, he was a lifelong resident of Lorain. Joseph graduated from Clearview High School in 1952, where he excelled in football. He was a Navy Veteran aboard the USS Randolph CVA-15-C (1954-1956).
He returned to Lorain and was employed initially at the Lorain Stove Works and then Columbia Gas Company for 42 years until retirement.
He was a lifetime member of Ss. Peter & Paul Orthodox Church, PLAV Post32, Amvets Post 47, and VFW 451, all of Lorain.
Joe spent many years playing, coaching, and umpiring several adult men's softball teams. He enjoyed cheering the Cleveland Brown, Cavs, and Indians, along with The Ohio State Buckeyes. He could also be found in the stands watching his grandchildren and great-grandson as they participated on with their teams. He enjoyed tailgating and sharing a beer with those that loved him. Joe could also be found in Vermilion at Serfozo's Cottages, where he managed and operated the property with his brothers after the passing of his parents.
Surviving are his sons, Joe (Kathy), of Vermilion, Andy (April), of Sheffield Township; daughter, Beth Serfozo, of Lorain; nine grandchildren; one great-grandson; brother, Dana Serfozo, of Vermilion; and sister-in-law, Janice Serfozo, of Amherst Township.
Joe was preceded in death by his wife, Janet (Feldkamp), in 2009; his parents, Julia (Moskal), in 1984, and Joseph Serfozo, in 1985; his brothers, Phineas, in 2007, and Michael, in 2014.
Joe would want to share a toast in closing; Go Navy - Beat Army - Michigan still sucks! Suck em up! And God Bless Ya!
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the family.
The family will receive friends on Friday, November 16, 2018 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center, 1110 Cooper Foster Park Road, Amherst.

One of the most savage workers I have ever seen in my life, Keeping up his parent's place, "Serfozo's Cottages!" ~ I'll drink for you Bud - In 1994 I was doing special make up effects and costumes in High School and Bud says to me, "Dave, Get those dead bodies out of the basement!" ~/- You don't hear that much in your lifetime!
