Ruth Marie "Sue" Satterfield

1936 - 2015

SHEFFIELD TOWNSHIP - Ruth "Sue" Marie Satterfield, 79 years of age, and a resident of Sheffield Township, passed away Friday, May 22, 2015, at New Life Hospice Residential Center in Lorain following a lengthy illness.
Sue was born May 3, 1936, in Sheffield Township. She was a lifetime resident of Sheffield Township, graduating from Clearview High School with the class of 1954.
Sue was employed as the official registrar at American Milk Goat Registration Association, the Elyria Credit Bureau, General Electrical Credit Association and the Chronicle Telegram in the accounting department before retiring. She was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church in Lorain previously Penfield Juntion. She was very active with the church teaching Sunday School. She was president of the Ladies Missionary Society, sang in the choir, worked with the AWANA program, and worked as the church financial secretary, and as the church treasurer. Her hobbies included reading, and counted cross-stitch, and traveling.
Survivors include her sisters, Mary Lou Williams of Amherst and Elza G. Satterfield of Sheffield Township; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her brother, James Satterfield; and her parents, Ewel T. and Amarette J. Satterfield (nee: Jefferson).
Friends may call Monday, May 25, 2015, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Hempel Funeral Home, 373 Cleveland Ave., Amherst.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, at 11:00 a.m. at Fellowship Baptist Church, 5046 Broadway, Lorain. The Rev. Orlando Collazo, pastor will officiate. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery, Lorain, Ohio.
