Mildred Irene (Clark) Blackmon
Pittsburg - Mildred Irene (Clark) Blackmon, 90, of Pittsburg went to be with her Lord Jesus Christ at 7:31 a.m. Tuesday, February 2, 2021 after an extended illness.
Mildred was born July 19, 1930 in Pittsburg, Kansas the daughter of Charley and Bessie (Hart) Clark. She graduated from Pittsburg High School.
On July 19, 1947, she married Roland Edward Blackmon. He preceded her in death on April 26, 2009. Mildred and Roland moved to Long Beach, California where they lived from 1957 to 1966. Taking care of her family was her most important role. After moving back to Pittsburg, Mildred worked at Mt. Carmel for 25 years in the nursery, surgery and recovery.
Mildred was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Pittsburg; she was Queen of the Senior Citizens Club and past President of the Senior Citizens Club.
She loved to travel to new places. Spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren was among her favorite things to do.
She is survived by two daughters, Melinda Parker and her husband, Carl of Ludington, Michigan and Donna Jameson and her husband, Johnnie of Asbury, Missouri; grandchildren, LeAnne (Eric) Bull, Mary Williams and Adam Wilson, Trevor (Carmine) Williams, Jerod Williams and Mindy Carlson, Hans Parker and Elizabeth Propst, Anna Parker-McDonald and Scott Hughes, Jason (Shalon) Jameson, Eric (Jenny) Jameson and Sarah (Nathan) Durman; great-grandchildren, Dakota (Kelsey) Phillips, Tucker Bull, Vanessa Williams, Taylee and Miya Williams, Aislinn Parker, Parker and Mazzey McDonald, Aaron Walker, Clay and Archer Jameson, Luke Caleb and Grace Jameson, Alexis and Wyatt Durman. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, daughter, Connie Williams, her parents, five brothers, Charley, Baby Clark, Harley, Harold, and James, a sister, Elsia, a son-in-law, Gary Williams and twin great-grandsons, Merick and Teagan Williams.
Mildred (Nannie) will be sadly missed by her family and friends.
Services will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday (Feb. 6) at the Brenner Mortuary with Rev. Jim Sukraw officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Olive Cemetery at a later date. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until service time at the funeral home, where friends may call after 10:00 a.m. Friday to sign the register. In respect for the family, we are asking everyone to wear face coverings and practice social distancing. The family suggests memorials to the Ascension Via Christi Cancer Center. These may be left at or mailed to Brenner Mortuary, 114 E. 4th St., Pittsburg, KS 66762. Friends may also leave condolences online at www.brennermortuary.com. Arrangements are under the direction of the Brenner Mortuary, Pittsburg, KS.
