Peter J. (Pete) DeCuyper

1927 - 2017

Peter (Pete) J. DeCuyper, 90, of Arma, Kansas passed away at 11:15 A.M., Friday, November 24, 2017 at Cedar Ridge Assisted Living in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma.
Peter (Pete) J. DeCuyper was born November 21, 1927 in Arma the son of Fernand DeCuyper and Beulah (Benda) DeCuyper. He grew up in Arma and graduated from Arma High School. He later attended Kansas State Teachers College, now known as Pittsburg State University.
He served with the United States Army during World War II and later was honorably discharged.
Pete was united in marriage to Ruth Ann Jones and she preceded him in death October 7, 2016.
He was the owner and operator of Burns-DeCuyper Lumber Company for 50 years until retired. He later did furniture repair and restoration for 26 years until retiring again.
Pete was a member of the Lon Helm Post #182 American Legion in Arma.
Survivors include his daughter Becky Sponsel and her husband Ira of Pittsburg, Kansas, son, John DeCuyper and his wife Vicki of Tulsa, Oklahoma, 5 grandchildren, Kate, Ben and Reed DeCuyper, Mike Sponsel and Kelly Larmer.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and granddaughter, Sarah DeCuyper.
Celebration of Life Funeral Services will be held 10:00 A.M., Tuesday, November 28, 2017 at Bedene Funeral Home. Friends may sign the register book Noon until 4 p.m. Monday, November 27, 2017 at Bedene Funeral Home.
Interment will follow in Highland Park Cemetery in Pittsburg, Kansas.
