Terry Leon Waterman

1949 - 2017

Terry Leon Waterman, 68 of Croweburg, Kansas passed away on October 11, 2017 at Arma Care Center after a lengthy illness.
Terry was born on February 7, 1949 in Pittsburg, Kansas the eldest son of Leon and Betty Jo (Davidson) Waterman. He grew up on a farm in rural Missouri until moving to Opolis, Kansas with his mother and two brothers at the age of 17. He attended Opolis and Asbury Grade School and graduated from Carl Junction High School in 1967. He attended Kansas State College of Pittsburg vocational welding program for one year following his high school graduation. He worked at Harvest Brand in Pittsburg from 1968-1970. As a young boy, he was baptized at and attended the Opolis Methodist Church.
On May 20, 1970 Terry was called to serve his country in the United States Army. He completed his basic training at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri and advanced infantry training at Fort Ord, California. He was a Sergeant in the 3rd U.S. Infantry Regiment (The Old Guard) stationed at Fort Myer, Virginia assigned to duties at Arlington National Cemetery. Upon his release from service in 1972 he moved to Croweburg, Kansas where he resided and raised a family.
On March 21, 1970 he married Edwina Stefani of Croweburg, Kansas. Terry worked for the Crawford County Road and Bridge Department for 30 years until his retirement in 2005. He also farmed and raised cattle. He was the maintenance operator for Rural Water District #3 in Crawford County for 25 plus years. He was a member of the Lon Helm Post No. 182 American Legion in Arma, Kansas where he served as Commander.
Survivors in addition to his wife include one son, Michael Waterman (Lindsay) of Croweburg, Kansas, one daughter, Tracey Mussa (Carl) of Scammon, Kansas, four grandchildren, Grant, Owen, and Gianna Waterman and Allie Mussa, two brothers, Mark Waterman (Brenda) and Tim Waterman (Sherrie) of Carl Junction, Missouri, his uncle-in-law John U. Parolo, and several nieces and nephews.
His parents preceded him in death.

Funeral services will be on Tuesday, October 17, 2017 at 11 a.m. at the Bedene Funeral Home in Arma, Kansas with Vivian Davidson as Officiant. Burial will be at the Garden of Memories Cemetery, Pittsburg, Kansas. The family will receive friends on Monday, October 16, 2017 from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Bedene Chapel in Arma, Kansas. The Lon Helm Post No. 182 American Legion will conduct graveside flag folding services.
Pallbearers include Grant Waterman, Rogelio Lopez, nephews Brian Waterman and Corey Waterman, and family friends Tom Davied, Mike Pasini and Corey Mason. Honorary Pallbearers include Michael Martin and John U. Parolo.
