Timothy Newton Obituary

Timothy (Tim) Lee Newton, Sr., 73, longtime resident of Pittsburg, KS, went home to be with the Lord November 21, 2018 at Via Christi Hospital after a brief illness.

Tim was born Feb.17, 1945 to Jay Lee and Mildred (Williams) Newton and attended Tulsa Oklahoma Public Schools.

He was a proud veteran enlisting in the US Army at the age of 17 and serving in the U.S. Air Force and the National Guard.

Timothy graduated from Midwestern Trucking School and enjoyed a professional career driving coast to coast as a truck driver. Most recently he was employed by Professional Transportation, Inc. as a driver for the past 17 years.

Tim married Iris Paulette Smith on November 5, 1976.

He was a member of Open Door Fellowship where he served as a Deacon.

Tim leaves to cherish his loving memory his wife Paulette Newton and his children, Tonya Newton of Tulsa, OK, Stacie Carter of Pittsburg, KS, Mechelle Newton of Tulsa, OK, Dana Hernandez of Grandview, MO, and Timothy Newton, Jr. (Andrea) of Kansas City, MO.

Tim is also survived by his 12 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jay Lee Newton and Mildred Wimbush.

Homegoing will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, November 28, 2018 at Open Door Fellowship Church located at 918 West 20th Street Pittsburg, KS 66762, officiated by Pastor Don Talent. Burial will follow in the Fort Scott National Cemetery, 900 East National Avenue, Ft. Scott, Kansas. Friends may call from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Brenner Mortuary. Friends may also leave condolences online at www.brennermortuary.com. Arrangements are under the direction of the Brenner Mortuary, 114 E. 4th St., Pittsburg, KS.
