Albert was born on July 8, 1932, in Little Falls, MN, to Albert Sr. and Helen Nelson. He graduated from Swanville High School in 1950 and attended the University of Minnesota majoring in Agricultural Business Administration. He was an active member of the Alpha Gamma Rho fraternity, where he formed lifelong friendships. In 1961, Albert married Ardith Bonde, and together they raised two children, Karin and Mikel. Their marriage was a true partnership built on love, laughter, and shared devotion to family and community. Albert began his career with New York Life Insurance Company before returning home in 1960 to join the family business, Nelson Insurance Agency. He also served as manager of Elmdale Farmers Mutual Insurance Company from 1960 through 2001. Albert received numerous awards for his leadership throughout the industry. Through his dedication and direction, Albert continued to grow the family business, and proudly entrusted the agency to the third generation, his children, in 1998. Albert was a member of Swanville Dollars for Scholars, an original member of the Swanville Lions Mid-Summer Carnival Committee, and was involved with Pheasants Forever for many years. Albert served on the AGR Alumni Board of Directors and was selected the 2002 Lambda Chapter Man of the Year. He was passionate about the outdoors and especially loved duck and goose hunting, skeet shooting, fishing, farming, and playing pool. His warmth, humor, and steadfast friendship will be fondly remembered by all who knew him.

Albert is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Ardith; children, Karin (Jeff) and Mikel (Julie); grandchildren, Ben (Paige) Nelson, Katie (Joe) Rydeen, Andy Nelson, McKenzie (fiancé Kurtis Silvernale) Barth, and Parker (Olivia) Barth; five great-grandchildren, Remington, Emmett, Colton, Jett, and Lottie; sister, Mary; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.
