Florence Piekarski

Florence Cathrine Heurung-Piekarski has become our newest angel, she passed away on December 10, 2025, with her grandchildren by her side.

Florence-AKA- Honey to so many, was 85 years old. Born February 22, 1940, to the late Fredrick and Philomenia (Dengel) Heurung, Florence was the eighth child of thirteen and the last to join the other twelve in heaven. Florence went to Catholic school through the eighth grade and then needed to get a job to help support her family as so many did back in the day. Her first job was at Mushel's Drug Store in Little Falls. Her second job was making light bulbs in the Twin Cities. She worked there until she got her first check and then was let go because she fibbed about her age to get the job. Florence married Daniel F. Piekarski on February 15, 1957, together, they lived and worked in the Twin Cities. Her longest job in her early years was with Sears and Robock in Minneapolis, where she worked for 5 years. She said she really enjoyed this job and they even bought her first crib when she had her eldest son, Greg. They then had Connie and moved back to Little Falls, where they then had Kevin, Brian and Danny. They moved around Little Falls and the Randall area until Florence was a little sneaky and bought the house on the west side, where they remained until today. She had many jobs throughout their marriage and was a hard worker to help support their family. Ma was known for playing cards, especially cribbage, smear and shit on your neighbor was a favorite for all. She was a great cook and made the best soup around. She could fillet pan fish and did it with a butcher knife. She and D were a hunting, fishing and turtling family and taught these things to all their kids and grandkids. She loved her kids and always tried to keep peace and love in her family.

Florence was preceded in death by her husband, Dan; son, Kevin; her parents and all her siblings.

Florence is survived by her children, Greg (Mary) of Buffalo, Connie of Little Falls, Brian (Karen) of Princeton, and Danny (Jolene) of Little Falls; 15 grandkids and 21 great-grandkids; and the most special godchild in her world, Carey Mammenga-Post; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A private family gathering will be held in the near future at the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery, where she will be placed in the columbarium with D.
