Allen Douglas "Doug" Walters Jr., age 56, of Mt. Vernon, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on Thursday, January 28, 2021. He was born on January 7, 1965, in Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri, to Allen Douglas Walters Sr. and Beverly S. (Carpenter) Walters.
Surviving Doug, and cherishing his memory, are his loving wife, Connie (Drake) Walters; his mother, Beverly; his step-sons, Kyle (Jess) Davis of Fredericktown, Shane Davis of Marengo, Gage Patrick of Charlotte, North Carolina; his step-daughter, Halie Lawhon of Mt. Vernon; his grandchildren, Mason Davis, Finn Davis, Emory Davis; his brothers, Eric (Holly) Walters of Cardington, Dakota Walters of Toledo; his nieces, Sierra Walters, Raygan Walters, Taylor Ullom; his aunt, Judith Bowers; and many cousins.
Doug was preceded in death by his father, Allen Walters Sr.; his uncles, Calvin Walters, Alton Walters; his aunts, Beatrice Lewis and Janet Brown.
Doug proudly served our country as a U.S. Army Ranger from 1983-1987 – for which we are a grateful nation. He was an avid and excellent golfer – a members of golf clubs, including the Marion Country Club and Chapel Hill of Mt. Vernon. He often golfed with his golfing buddies. Doug was always recognized for his important work at ten nursing homes – a brilliant and successful businessman. He loved the residents at the nursing homes and worked to make their lives as comfortable as possible.
He was a Browns and Buckeyes fan. He watched games on television when he could and even went to games with Connie and other family members. Doug cared so much for his family and had countless friends. Above all, he was a loving and attentive son, husband, brother, father, uncle and grandfather.
A visitation will be held for Doug from 5-8:30 p.m. on Friday, February 5, 2021, at DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home (637 North State Route 61 in Sunbury). DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements and is honored to serve the Walters family. In lieu of flowers, donations in Doug's name may be made to the American Cancer Society (5555 Frantz Rd, Dublin, OH 43017). Doug was such a kind hearted and caring person I will miss his humor he was always so nice to all of us at JagHealthcaregalion he will truly be missed by so many my thoughts and prayers go out to his family, fly high with the Angel's Mr Doug
