HEATH - On the evening of July 14th, 2023, Bryan was killed in a motorcycle accident on an isolated stretch of I-80 in the Nevada desert. He was less than 20 miles from his stop for the evening.
Bryan had turned 61 less than two weeks prior, on the 4th of July, while he was finishing a years-in-the-making trip from Ohio to Alaska and back on his motorcycle.
Bryan is survived by his wife, Lori, his son Zac and his husband Anthony, his daughter Camille and her fiancé Tom, his four siblings, Roxanne Humphrey, Daryl (Natalie) Humphrey, Michele (Paul) Hill, Alicia (Mark) Kohler, and his hunting dog, Zoe.
In life, he was an avid hunter, sportsman, movie buff, and jack of all trades, always eager to try new things. He retired as a firefighter and EMT from the City of Columbus, Division of Fire in the spring of 2022.
Bryan had a very distinct philosophy on life, and he regularly instilled this in his children. "Life is too short to worry about what others think of you. All you can do is your best, and all you can control is your actions and how you respond to others."
He was hardworking, passionate, intelligent, and creative. At times he was quick to anger, but he wasn't a stranger to tears. He wasn't always the easiest person to be around-this man had opinions. But he was definitely someone you were glad to know and have in your life, because he would do almost anything for those he cared about.
Bryan may not have known the impact he had on this world and the people in it. But what his family knows to be true is that he left his mark on all who knew him. There will never be another quite like him.
