Donald Roach Obituary

Donald E. Roach II, 75, of Mt. Gilead, passed away Tuesday, February 16, 2021, at home unexpectedly.

Born December 23, 1945, in Galion, he was the son of Donald E. Roach, Frances (Arndt) Geyer and the father that raised him, Mirrel A. Geyer. He married Dalene L. (Roesch) Roach on December 29, 1968, and she survives.

He was a graduate of Mt. Gilead Exempted Village Schools and served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War.

Of all things in life, Donald loved spending time with and being surrounded by his family. He treasured his wife, Dalene, the love of his life, for over 52 years and hated to be apart from her for any amount of time. Any time he could spend with his son and daughter and their families provided him with so much joy. When he couldn't be with them physically, he would always tell someone else to provide his hugs and kisses for him. He held a very special place in his heart for his granddaughter Katelyn. He couldn't wait to see her and enjoyed playing games, looking at pictures, and spent endless hours watching and talking to her through FaceTime when they couldn't be together.

He was a member of the Iberia United Methodist Church and had been actively involved in many organizations including the Boy Scouts of America and the Lion's Club. He was an EMT with the Iberia Volunteer Fire Department for many years. Donald had been an avid skier and was part of the Clear Fork Ski Patrol for more than 25 years.

Donald began working at HPM in Mt. Gilead before graduating from Mt. Gilead High School in 1965. He continued to work there as electrical specialist for 36 years, until HPM's closure.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by children, Amy Dyanne (Cory) Miley and Kevin Michael (Chris) Roach; grandchildren, Katelyn T. Miley and Jordon Leslie; Brother, Grover Geyer; sister, Zella Marie Geyer and step sisters, Judy Washington, Sharon Teschler and Nancy Schmitzer.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, February 21, 2021, at Richardson Davis Chapel of Snyder Funeral Homes, 218 South Market St., Galion, Ohio 44833. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, February 22, 2021, at Iberia United Methodist Church with Rev. Dr. Jan Sprague, Rev. Ash Welch and Rev. Bill Sowers officiating. Burial will follow at the Iberia Cemetery.

Full military honors will be conducted by the United States Army and the Morrow County Veterans Honor Detail.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Iberia United Methodist Church in care of the funeral home.
