Roberta J. McBride, age 77 of Harrisonburg, VA, formerly of Cardington, Ohio died Wednesday morning, December 10, 2014 in Harrisonburg, VA. She was born on May 2, 1937 in Cardington to the late Walter and Opal (Haycook) Long.
Roberta graduated from Cardington-Lincoln High School in the class of 1955. She was a homemaker and attended the St. Paul Lutheran Church.
Roberta enjoyed bowling, reading, puzzles, and playing with her beloved dog, Buster.
Roberta is survived by her children: Terrence (Mala) McBride of Ashland, Lori (Thomas) Mendez of Harrisonburg, VA; 12 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandson; a sister, Patricia (Guy) Flora of Cardington and a brother, William Long of Cardington.
In addition to her parents Roberta was preceded in death by three of her children: Patrick McBride, Robbie McBride, and Tina McBride; and one brother, Larry Long.
Friends may call on Friday, December 12, 2014 from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at Gompf Funeral Home, 440 Center Street in Cardington. The funeral service will be held Saturday, December 13, 2014 at the funeral home at 10:00 am with Pastor Steven Dennis, officiating. Following the service the burial will take place in the Glendale Cemetery.
