Joan Pattison Obituary

Joan Mary Pattison, 82, a native of Mount Carmel, Newfoundland, Canada, passed away on September 9, 2025, in Goose Creek, SC. Joan was born on August 5, 1943. She moved to Charleston, SC in 1968 and raised 4 children while also working as a Seamstress and Quality Control Manager. She became an American Citizen in 1970. A fantastic cook, Sunday dinner at Joan's house was a can't-miss event. Especially if she prepared a roast. Her home was the heart of the family, and she had a passion for DIY projects. Joan loved the holidays. Her home was always fully decorated, no matter the occasion. You could always count on bunny cakes at Easter and peanut butter balls during Christmas. And she especially enjoyed holiday strolls in the Charleston City Market. Joan was also an avid gardener. Her home and backyard were always full of gorgeous plants and flowers that she lovingly grew. She adored her dogs and saved each one from a shelter - most-times adopting those that had been returned. They won the dog lottery when Joan took them in. And of course, Joan was wildly passionate about her beloved Clemson Tigers, Pittsburgh Steelers and New York Yankees. She was also a proud American who loved her native Canada. Joan had no favorite color. Fiercely loving, loyal and supportive, Joan cherished her family and was immensely loved in return. She will be missed by many. Joan is survived by her husband Ronald Pattison, children Debora Wilkins (Paul), Timothy Combahee (Michelle), and Terry Combahee (Jacqueline), grandchildren Lauren Kirkland (Zachariah), Tyler Wilson (Keiko), Chelsey Arcilesi, Savannah Combahee and Ciara Combahee, great grandchildren Reagan Kirkland, Jailen Combahee, and Luna Coral Wilson, sisters Margaret Fry, Elsie Power and Helen Normore, brother Joseph Parrott, and her loving dog Maggie. She was preceded in death by her son Thomas Combahee, parents Joseph and Esther Parrott, and brother Michael Parrott. A private family gathering was held in Joan's memory. In lieu of flowers, please donate in Joan's name to Charleston Animal Society or your local pet shelter.
