Dear Cris and Family! How fortunate we were to be neighbors with the Schlagater family. Our kids were in Indian Guides together, walked to Park Road School together, played sports together. I came to know David as one of the kindest, gentle, sincere husband and father he was. We miss him. The Reed Family

I knew David Schlageter over the years as the physician of a dear friend, with whom he kept an ongoing friendship after she moved to NYC. After her passing, he and I remained in touch -- and I came to care about him personally as I grew more aware of his kindness, warmth, generosity of spirit, and complete lack of pretension. What an inspiration, and what a gentle steady force he was in the life of our mutual friend who had the good fortune to be his patient. I was so looking forward to seeing David on a recent trip to Rochester, and am deeply saddened by his loss. He was a truly extraordinary man. How honored and humbled I am to have known him. I will not forget him. My heart goes out to his beloved wife and family.

Deepest Sympathy to the Schlageter Family. Dr. Schlageter was one of the best at GHS, he had that wonderful smile and he was so good with all his patients. I had the pleasure of working with him many years ago and the staff adored him and his ways. May he rest in peace and we all have the fond memories of him.

Dr. Schlageter and my father worked together for decades at Genesee Hospital.

Due to health reasons, my dad cannot communicate right now.

If he could, he would repeat what he said so many times in the past, which is that Dr. Schlageter was a great physician for the same reasons he was a great person, husband and dad.

Our families were very close, and I know my mom is especially distraught over the sudden loss of such a compassionate and wonderful man... and the loss suffered by her lifelong frind, Chris, as well as Dave's children.

Dr. Schlageter helped my family immeasurably, even after he retired. The Wolfe Family is eternally grateful.

To the Schlageter family, my condolences and prayers for your loss. I was a patient of Dr. Schlageter for over 30 years and he is the sole reason I am alive today. I first came to him when I was 19 and in not very good health. He changed al that and put me on a course that has allowed me to live a full and rewarding life. I can never thank him enough! He was never about the "system" and its limitations. He was always about the patient and their needs. Please know he made a world of difference to so many people and take comfort that he will always be in our prayers.

The best friends are old friends. Our friend David died before his time,I think, selfishly. He died before Cris and their children and grandchildren were ready and before Paul and I carried out our thoughts of a reunion with Cris and David. You know, hey we will call maybe go skiing or travel together --- Maybe we could drive to Rochester when we are in Boston ---- Too many maybe's -----now David is gone
I have ,as does Paul and our family so many wonderful memories of our time together some on the finger lakes ,some at David 's family place. I make David 's clam's casino recipe, His spicy shrimp ,that both my children and grandchildren request as a favorite ,is from a lovely lunch with David and Cris ,our years together as very poor interns and residents at Genessee, our daughter Katrina's wedding in Arkansas, their son Mark's
Wedding in Colorado ,the early James Bond movie ,"gold finger" our children playing together with young David heading up the bunch, many many dinners shared as young families, cris marching to support Vietnam vets while I protested the war, Cris and I doing synchronized swimming class at theY ,Cris always beautiful ,David a man who could do so many things, a wonderful family.
David ,we will miss you Cris we love you and we send hugs and hugs to you, your children and grandchildren and David's family. Love from the kradel family. We are very sorry for your loss of David

David was my doctor for 30 years and his advice, accessibility and caring attitude were of immense help to me. He had wisdom, generosity and a personal touch that transcended the role of physician---he was a healer in every sense of the word. My prayers and hopes for comfort and renewed strength go to his wife, children and extended family and friends during this dark hour.

My sincerest and heartfelt regrets to David's family! He was so sweet and so funny and had the warmth and charm of a little boy whenever we chatted as I would pickup or dropoff Twyla. How kind he was to give me flu shots also on my visits to the home. I just gotta believe you are in the right place with Twyla and I'm sure you will be sorely missed by all who knew you!!!
Rest in peace Dr. David
