Dorothy Proctor Obituary

DOROTHY CROWELL PROCTOR Beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and sister MANCHESTER - Dorothy Alice Crowell Proctor, 87, passed away on October 14, 2008, at F.F. Thompson Hospital following a brief illness. She passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family. Dorothy was born November 14, 1920 to R. Browning and Marion (Rice) Crowell of Manchester, N.Y. She was a graduate of Manchester High School and later, The School of Commerce in Rochester, N.Y. She and John W. Proctor were married on October 2, 1943, and just celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary with family and friends. Dorothy lived in Rochester, where she worked for Mixco Co. for 20 years. After retiring, she and John moved to Hackett Road in Shortsville, and lived there for 26 years. Just last year, they moved to DePaul Horizons in Canandaigua. Dorothy enjoyed playing bridge, was an avid reader, volunteered at F.F. Thompson Hospital, and was a member of the Manchester Baptist Church. She is survived by her loving husband, John Proctor; son, Bruce (Donna) Proctor of Hamlin, N.Y.; daughter, Pam (Jerry) Horton of Chesapeake, Va.; grandchildren, Laura (Mike) Campbell of Millersville, Md., Kenny (Angela) Horton of San Diego, Calif., Scott (Lisa) Proctor of Brockport, Dan Proctor of Rochester and Ray (Chapin) Traugott of Geneva; great-grandchildren, Sean and Ryan Campbell, Alicia and David Proctor, Courtney Proctor, and Lily and Nate Traugott; brother, Gordon (Barbara) Crowell of Manchester; sisters, Jane Johnson of Spring, Texas and Ruth Peters of Shortsville; and several nieces and nephews. There will be no calling hours. A celebration of Dorothy's life will be held 4:30 p.m., Friday, October 17, at Manchester Baptist Church, 54 South Main Street, Manchester, N.Y., with Rev. Darryl Powell officiating. Donations in Dorothy's memory can be made to F.F. Thompson Hospital 350 Parrish Street, Canandaigua, NY 14424; or Manchester Baptist Church, 54 South Main Street, Manchester, NY 14504. A special thank you to Rev. Darryl Powell for all his strength and friendship, and to everyone at Depaul Horizons, and the nurses on the 3rd floor at F.F. Thompson Hospital, for the loving care they gave Dorothy. What a true delight the memories are of Mr. and Mrs. Proctor from Britton Road when I was a "kid." So sorry I missed the service, I just discovered the news on Tuesday. My sincere condolences and prayers are with the family.
