James Kelly Obituary

James W. Kelly Loved by all IONIA - James W. Kelly, age 84, of Elton Rd., died Monday, September 15, 2008, at Conesus Lake Nursing Home, in Livonia. He is survived by his wife, Shirley Madafferi Kelly; three stepchildren, Mary Beth Rathbun (Jim DiProspro) of Greece, Michael (Peggy) Madafferi of Ionia, Peter (Lisa) Madafferi of Indiana; grandchildren and great-grandchildren; two brothers, Key (Cricket) Kelly of Tennessee, Tim (Elizabeth) Kelly of Alabama; two sisters, Jimmie Nell Lynch, and Anne Kelly, both of Tennessee; dear friend Nancy Baker of Bloomfield; nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two sisters and three brothers. Mr. Kelly served with the U.S. Navy for eight years, and was a World War II veteran. He was aboard the USS New Mexico. He was a member of the Moose Club. Mr. Kelly worked as a union carpenter for many years, retiring in 1972. He was a volunteer at Sampson Naval Museum in Ovid. He attended the First United Methodist Church of Ionia. Mr. Kelly enjoyed fishing and gardening. He and his wife wintered in Palm Coast Fla. Friends may call tomorrow, (Wednesday) from 4 to 7 p.m. at Johnson-Kennedy Funeral Home Inc., 2 South Ave., East Bloomfield. His funeral service will be held Thursday, at 11:00 a.m., at First United Methodist Church, 2120 Elton Rd. Ionia. Interment will be in Millers Corners Cemetery in Ionia. Memorial contributions may be made to First United Methodist Church of Ionia, P.O. Box 8, Ionia NY 14475.
