John Gentner Obituary

John E. "Jack" Gentner Jr. Beloved husband, father, and grandfather MANCHESTER - John E. "Jack" Gentner Jr., 72, passed away peacefully on August 9, 2008, at Clifton Springs Hospital, surrounded by his family. Jack was born October 28, 1935 in Canandaigua, N.Y., the son of John and Dorothy (Denniston) Gentner Sr. After serving in the U.S. Army, he started on his lifelong career in machining. He started with Papec Mfg. Company, then Crossman Arms Company, before finally owning and operating P.B. Machine Company in Palmyra. Jack was an avid sportsman and gardener and when he wasn't in his shop, he was tending to his garlic, hunting, or fishing. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Norma (Hayden) Gentner; six children, Marcia (Bud) Booth, Dorothy Gentner, Linda (Bob) Bailey, Cathy Ruthven, John "Jack" (Christine) Gentner III, and Richard (Tammy) Gentner; sisters, Jean (Jake) Repard and Ruth (Craig) Anderson; brother, David (Jane) Gentner; and grandchildren, Alex, Toni, Sully, and Sam Fratto, Roberta Abbott, Casey and Myah Booth, Anthony Deruyter, Nicole Devinney, Nathan Gentner, John "Jack" IV, Meghan, and Nicholas Gentner, Sophia Matties, Mikki (Danny) Minguela, and Robert (Val) Bailey Jr. He was predeceased by his sister, Dorothy June Colf. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9pm on Wednesday, August 13, at Halsted-Patrick Funeral Home, 19 North Main Street, Manchester, N.Y. A memorial Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, August 14, at St. Dominic Church, Shortsville, NY.

Know that we are thinking about your entire family at this difficult time. We loved your Dad and we know he will be greatly missed by many many people. He is in such a beautiful place now and sometimes it is hard to remember that as you grieve. If you need anything other than prayers let us know. I say lets fast forward this entire year. It has been difficult for so many people we know. We love you guys
