Richard Donk Obituary

Richard P. "Dick" Donk Loving husband CLIFTON SPRINGS - Richard P. "Dick" Donk, age 73, passed away at home on Wednesday, Sept. 24, 2008. In keeping with his wishes, there will be no calling hours. A memorial Mass will be offered Monday, September 29, at 10 a.m. at St. Felix Church, 12 Hibbard Ave., Clifton Springs. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery, with a military honor guard and Taps played by Dick's niece, Betsy George of Victor. Friends may contribute in Dick's memory to Ontario-Yates Hospice, 756 Pre-emption Road, Geneva, NY 14456. Richard was born Feb. 10, 1935 in Clifton Springs and was the son of Paul and Vivian Entz Donk. He had lived in the area all of his life. After serving with the U.S. Army, Dick returned to his family farm, until 1985. In 1975 Dick and his brother Jerry owned and operated Donk's Farm Equipment. He was also a highway superintendent for the town of Manchester. Dick was a longtime (from the age of 18) member of Port Gibson Volunteer Fire Department. He was also a life member of American Legion Post 457 in Phelps. He enjoyed bowling, fishing and especially traveling throughout the United States. Dick is survived by his wife of 53 years, Edwina VanTroost Donk; brother, Gerald (Nadyne) Donk of Clifton Springs; sister, Deborah (Daniel) George of Lyons; and many nieces, nephews, aunts and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents, Paul and Vivian Donk; and sister and brother-in-law, Diane and Rees Morgan, formerly of Indiana. Arrangements have been entrusted to Patrick Funeral Home, Clifton Springs.
