Richard Roxburgh Obituary

Richard James Roxburgh Jr. "Rick" CANANDAIGUA - Richard J. Roxburgh, of Holiday Lane, lost his battle with cancer on Jan. 7, 2012, at Strong Memorial Hospital. He will be dearly missed. Rick is survived by his deeply devoted wife, Annie (Setter)Roxburgh; sweet and loving step-daughter, Meg MaryElizabeth Baxter; father, Richard James Roxburgh Sr.; mother, Janet F. Roxburgh; brother, Jason Albert Roxburgh; sister-in-law, Danielle Roxburgh; niece/godchild, Samantha Dorothy Roxburgh; nephew, Richard Jason Roxburgh; godfather/uncle, Albert Sabia II; aunt, Lisa Sabia; aunt, Cindy; brother-in-law, Andrew Setter; sister-in-law, Zoe Haubert; niece, Madeline Setter; and cousins, Cynthia Hendrickson, Nicole Marquez, Courtney Presti, Nick Sabia and Matt Hey. He was predeceased by his grandmother and grandfather, Albert and Dorothy Sabia; and aunt, Audrey Spinosa. Rick was a graduate of Mepham High School, class of 1987, in Long Island, N.Y. Following graduation, he attended Calhoun Vocational School and the Carpenters Union Apprentice School in Long Island. Rick worked as a CNC machinist at Valve Tech Inc. in Phelps. He was a completely vested and a loving member in RAM Inc. for 18 years. He was a member of the National Rifle Association, Waterloo Rifle and Pistol Club and Canandaigua Sportsman Club. Rick belonged to the Harley Owners Group from 1994 to 2004. Rick gave the gift of sight to Rochester Eye and Tissue Bank. He was an organ and tissue donor as well. He also allowed for an autopsy to be performed by the University of Rochester so that others could learn and benefit from his rare form of cancer. Friends are invited to call on Friday January 13, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Fuller Funeral Home Inc., 190 Buffalo St., Canandaigua. A 10 a.m. funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 14, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 320 S. Pearl St., Canandaigua. In lieu of flowers, Rick's wishes were that all donations be given to James P. Wilmot Cancer Center, University of Rochester Medical Center, 601 Elmwood Ave., P.O Box 704, Rochester, NY 14642, in the hope of finding a cure and eradicating cancer.
