Charlie Newton

Charlie Eugene Newton, 88, of Midland, passed away on Thursday, March 24, 2016. Memorial services will be held on Thursday, March 31, 2016 at 11:00AM at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Chapel in Midland. He was born on January 6, 1928 to Albert Guy Newton and Claudie Shaw Newton in Carnegie, OK. He served in the US Army during WWII. Upon discharge from the Army he worked for Phillips Petroleum and Northern National Gas as corrosion specialist before starting the first Cathodic Protection Company in the Permian Basin in 1959. During his time here on earth, Charlie enjoyed hunting, fishing, the outdoors and music. One constant was his love of dance, he was an excellent dancer. Charlie worked long hours on his jobs and was always busy keeping up with his property, he rarely sat still unless there was a good ballgame, golf or Western on TV. At the end of a long day, Charlie loved to watch the sun set. Charlie is survived by his wife, Lynn A. Newton of Midland; five children, Sharon Williams of Tool, TX; Rick Newton of Madisonville, LA; Tracy Shock of Midland; Noland Dunnan of Bradenton, FL; and Nicole Dunnan Evangelist of Parker, CO; 10 grandchildren, Robb Williams, Ashley Williams, Laci Newton Powell, Taryn Newton, Garrett Shock, Hillori Shock, Jacob Dunnan, Aaron Dunnan, Rhianon Evangelist, Cantyn Evangelist; and five great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents and 10 siblings. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials be donated to Alzheimer's Association, 4400 N.
