Daniel Jones Obituary

Daniel Carl Jones
07/03/1945 - 09/29/2023
Daniel Carl Jones, age 78, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, September 29, 2023 at his home in Midland after a brave battle with cancer. The memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, October 7, 2023 at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home Chapel and will also be live streamed for those unable to attend. Gabe Nance will officiate.
Danny was born July 3, 1945 in Knox City, Texas to Stephen Decatur (S.D.) Jones and Robbie Pannell Jones. He married Jennifer Dick, of Edinburgh, Scotland on May 5, 1968 in West Monroe, Louisiana. Danny is survived by his wife of 55 years, Jennifer Jones of Midland; his daughters Dana Nance and her husband Gabe of Blue Ridge and Jenna Jones of Tomball; his sister Paula Adams and her husband Craig of Midland; his granddaughters Emily Littlejohn and her husband Jacob of Ambrose and Myra Jones of Tomball; his grandson Caleb Nance of Blue Ridge, along with nieces, nephews and many friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents and his brother.
Danny and his sister, Paula, started Charts, Inc., a gas measurement company, and worked together until they retired. Many of his employees have said that he was the best boss they ever worked for. He was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather and friend. He was sharp witted, intelligent, ornery, kind, thoughtful, wise, patient and so generous. He loved his family and friends so well. Danny was a vital part of the recovery community in Midland, always encouraging, listening, giving and sharing. Danny loved wildflowers, the mountains of Colorado, crossword puzzles, poetry, southern gospel music, playing the piano, playing 42, all kinds of sweets, antique clocks, phonographs, 78 rpm records, antiques and connecting with family on Ancestry. To know him was to love him and be loved by him.
The family would like to express their gratitude towards family, friends and Home Hospice of Midland.
Arrangements are under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory of Midland. Online condolences may be made at www.npwelch.com.

Jennifer, Dana and Jenna, so sorry for your loss. Dan was a kind man. I worked with Dan for 13 years at Charts, Ltd. We were like a family. I have never experienced that anywhere else. We got our work done, but we found time to work cross-word-puzzles or 3-D puzzles or books on tapes, and share and discuss. But we got our work done. Dan was fair and humble, and had strong faith. He will be missed. May God Bless the family.
Love,
Mary O'Connor
